Basketball Game Preview: Second Baptist Eagles vs. Fort Bend Christian Academy Eagles

The Second Baptist Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Fort Bend Christian Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fort Bend Christian Academy is hoping to do what Lutheran South Academy couldn't on Friday: put an end to Second Baptist's winning streak, which now stands at nine games. Second Baptist claimed a resounding 67-22 victory over Lutheran South Academy. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Second Baptist found their leader in sophomore Reese Alston, who went 5 of 8 en route to 19 points. The matchup was Alston's 16th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Will Goolsby, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Christian Academy waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Emery/Weiner 81-41. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while Emery/Weiner are ranked 1168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Bend Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.5 points. As for Second Baptist, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Second Baptist strolled past Fort Bend Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 60-44. Will Second Baptist repeat their success, or does Fort Bend Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
