Sandy Creek is 2-8 against the Panthers since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sandy Creek Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Fillmore Central Panthers. Sandy Creek is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 15-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Sandy Creek was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-43 to the Titans. While losing is never fun, Sandy Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Titans are ranked 94th).
Despite the defeat, Sandy Creek saw an underclassman step up: Paige Biltoft scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Biltoft has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emma Fisher, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fillmore Central came up short against the Wolverines on Saturday and fell 45-34. Fillmore Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sandy Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Fillmore Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
Sandy Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over the Panthers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 45-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sandy Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
