Basketball Recap: Coral Reef Makes It Three in a Row at Home

If South Dade wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Coral Reef, they should've done a better job of containing Ashton Williams. The Coral Reef Barracudas walked away with a 51-39 win over the South Dade Buccaneers on Tuesday thanks in part to Williams, who went 9 for 10 on his way to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Gellineau, who posted four points along with 12 assists and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

Coral Reef's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for South Dade, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Coral Reef will be playing in front of their home fans against TERRA Environmental at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. TERRA Environmental will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Coral Reef surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Dade, they will venture away from home to square off against Southridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
