Softball Recap: Surry Central Wins Going Away Against South Stokes

Surry Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Stokes, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Surry Central Golden Eagles' way against the South Stokes Sauras on Thursday as the Surry Central Golden Eagles made off with a 13-2 win. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' most dominant victory of the season so far.

McKindsey Lloyd was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ragan Hall, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Surry Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Surry Central's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 12.5 hits in those games compared to only 3.33 in the others. As for South Stokes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Surry Central will welcome West Wilkes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Surry Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season. As for South Stokes, they will be playing at home against Starmount at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
