The Miami Beach Hi-Tides will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the American Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Miami Beach fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Pompano Beach on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Golden Tornadoes.
Meanwhile, American had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 70-29 victory over JC Bermudez Doral. Given American's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while JC Bermudez Doral is ranked 632nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Miami Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for American, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.
Miami Beach strolled past American in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 by a score of 63-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Miami Beach since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
