In what's become a running theme this season, the Cesar Chavez Champions gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 55-24 win over Shadow Ridge on the road. Given Cesar Chavez's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Stallions are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeisha Robinson was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalaiha Madden, who scored five points along with six steals.
When it comes to explaining why Shadow Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Holub. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with two steals. Holub hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Cesar Chavez, bringing their record for this year to 15-2. As for Shadow Ridge, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cesar Chavez will take on the Monsoon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Vista has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 285 points over their last four games. As for Shadow Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Rams at 7:00 p.m.
