The Phillipsburg Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Trego Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Phillipsburg is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Trego in Kansas (Phillipsburg is ranked 149th, while Trego is ranked 310th).
Last Tuesday, Phillipsburg beat Hill City 50-42.
Rhett Shelton and Rad Rodriguez were among the main playmakers for Phillipsburg as the former scored 15 points along with three blocks and the latter scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Caden Seems, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Trego's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoxie. Trego has struggled against Hoxie recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Phillipsburg's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Trego, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Phillipsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Trego in their previous meeting back in January, winning 47-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Phillipsburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
