Mountain View is 1-8 against Capuchino since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mountain View lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Gunn, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. The Spartans never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Thursday.

Allison Marcelino made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Marcelino wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nyaira Payne, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Payne a new career-high in RBI (two). Maya Buell also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gunn struck out 15 times.
Meanwhile, Capuchino came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Wildcats.
Brianna Lopiccolo was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Avery Motroni, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Capuchino's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mountain View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Capuchino struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mountain View couldn't quite finish off Capuchino in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
