On Friday, Seaside Christian Academy beat Chestertown Christian Academy 28-20. The win was all the more spectacular given Seaside Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Chestertown Christian Academy is ranked 59th).
Seaside Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Charley Davis out in front who scored six points along with six steals and five rebounds. Davis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire DuChene, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Haley Engle, who scored four points along with five rebounds. Engle is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
The victory made it two in a row for Seaside Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-7. As for Chestertown Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Seaside Christian Academy will head out on the road to take on Salisbury Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Salisbury Christian is coming into the match with three straight losses at home, meaning Seaside Christian Academy will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Chestertown Christian Academy will take on Greenwood Mennonite at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Greenwood Mennonite will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Chestertown Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
