Palmer is a perfect 10-0 against Houston since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Moose will welcome the Hawks at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Palmer is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Homer, who was ranked 11th at the time (Palmer was ranked ninth). The Moose were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Mariners on Saturday. The contest marked the Moose's most dominant victory of the season so far.
Reed Craner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Palmer got a massive performance out of Tristan Barrey, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Samuel Meals, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Palmer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Houston hadn't done well against Kodiak recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 7-1 win. With that victory, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Josh Fisher was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Bren, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Palmer now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Houston, the win got them back to even at 3-3-1.
Houston's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Palmer has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. It's a different story for Houston, though, as they've only averaged .365. Will they be able to contain Palmer's hitters?
Everything went Palmer's way against Houston in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Palmer made off with an 8-1 victory. Do the Moose have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
