Linden has gone a perfect 10-0 against Summerville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Bears at 5:00 p.m. Linden is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 12 games.
Linden barely beat Bret Harte the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Bullfrogs on Friday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Katie Schallberger made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Olivia Fears was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ava Isaacson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Linden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bret Harte only posted a batting average of .222.
Calaveras hit Summerville with a six-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears lost 14-1 to the Red Hawks. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Summerville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKenzie Munsel, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Linden's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Summerville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Summerville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Linden hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. It's a different story for Summerville, though, as they've only averaged .238. Will they be able to contain Linden's hitters?
Everything went Linden's way against Summerville in their previous matchup back in March, as Linden made off with an 18-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
