Bluffton and Heritage are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bluffton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Bluffton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Southern Wells 47-14. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Raiders are ranked 274th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bluffton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khamel Moore, who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns. Moore really tore up the turf during one magnificent 87-yard run. Another signal caller making a difference was Axton Beste, who threw for 203 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Heritage, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Tipton by a score of 30-20 on Friday.
Bluffton better keep an eye on Lucas Weber. He was instrumental in Heritage's win, rushing for 212 yards and four scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Weber a new career-high.
Heritage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 272 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
One reason for the win was Heritage's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Wyatt Bertsch was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.
Bluffton's record now sits at 6-0. As for Heritage, their record is now 4-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Bluffton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 207 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 234.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Bluffton took a serious blow against Heritage in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 51-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Weber, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 44 receiving yards and one TD. Now that the Tigers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
