The Summit Tigers had to endure an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They blew past Middle Park 50-29. Summit's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Summit's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayla Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Smith pulled down eight or more rebounds. Kenya Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Summit's victory was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-6. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.67 points. As for Middle Park, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Summit will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Palisade at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Palisade presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Summit in Colorado (Palisade is ranked 77th, while Summit is ranked 205th). Middle Park will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Thornton at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Hopefully Thornton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Saturday.
