Softball Game Preview: West Prairie Cyclones vs. Seymour Indians

The West Prairie Cyclones will take on the Seymour Indians at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

West Prairie's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Bushnell-Prairie City with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Cyclones haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Belle Petty made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Petty was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Lindsey Dunn and Addalyn Stanberry did most of the damage at the plate: Dunn went 3-for-4 with seven stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Stanberry went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those seven stolen bases gave Dunn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Kitch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

West Prairie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bushnell-Prairie City only posted an OBP of .259.

Meanwhile, Seymour had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Indians have posted against the Wildcats since May 24, 2021.

Seymour now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for West Prairie, their record now sits at 7-13.
