The Lutheran Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took down Ponderosa 65-48. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lutheran also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Berkley Schneider led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Vigil, who scored 19 points.
Maddison Neale and Shae Heiden certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Neale scored 21 points along with five rebounds, while Heiden scored 18 points along with three steals. Neale scored a full 43.8% of Ponderosa's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ponderosa struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lutheran pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Ponderosa, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Lutheran will head out on the road to face off against Eaton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponderosa will be home for the holidays to greet Greeley Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Greeley Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
