Diablo Valley recap Oct. 30, 2012
Clayton Valley extended the longest winning streak in Diablo Valley this week by beating Northgate, 41-21. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Concord led the league in scoring this week after putting up 68 points on Mt. Diablo. Mitchell Daniels threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns and ran for three yards in the win.
The Minutemen's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Olito Thompson chipped in 147 yards. Daniel Golden helped Concord's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
Jay Yesin was the best wideout in the league this week as Concord defeated the Red Devils. Yesin tallied five receptions for 93 yards.
Joe Pelletier provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Broncos fell to Clayton Valley. He completed 14 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 41 yards. Pelletier's favorite target this week was Brandon Lee, who caught seven passes for 76 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Austin Hunt of Mt. Diablo is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1362. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, Tim Murphy's team's Joe Protheroe has rushed for 1781 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Lee. The Northgate star has 37 catches for 495 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Eagles take on Bryan Shaw's team. Clayton Valley is currently in first, while the Red Devils are in sixth.
College Park made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,873 from 7,232. The improvement came about via a 61-14 victory over Ygnacio Valley last week.
