The Edgewater Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Innovation Bulls at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Edgewater lost 15-5 to Ocoee on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered against the Knights since March 6, 2023.
Blake Alderman made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Coron Victor also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Innovation). They put the hurt on Cypress Creek with a sharp 12-0 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Matthew Graci made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Luis Sebastian Rodriguez and Andres Segura did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Segura went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Aiden Juarbe was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Innovation always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Innovation and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Edgewater, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Edgewater has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Innovation struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
