The biggest upset of the week belonged to Slaton, who took down 634th ranked Slaton, 27-0.
Brownfield moved up to 660 from 777 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region I District 2. The Cubs climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Tigers 27-0.
Lamesa's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kolt Moreland threw for 250 and two touchdowns and Ryan Garza had 116 yards receiving. On the ground Kendrick Hunter chipped in 101 yards. Jahlahni Edwards helped Lamesa's passing attack out by catching five balls for 74 yards.
The Tornadoes' Moreland and Garza have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moreland has thrown for 2031 yards this season, while Garza has 46 catches for 673 yards. Koal Houchin from Idalou leads the league in rushing with 708 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Slaton takes on the Wildcats. Chad Terry's team is currently in third, while Idalou is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tigers take on the Wildcats. Slaton has allowed 117 points this season, while Idalou has given up 96. The Tigers allowed 27 points last week as they fell to Brownfield.
Kermit led 2A-1 Region I District 2 in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on Lamesa.
