The Spanaway Lake Sentinels will head out on the road to challenge the Sumner Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
Spanaway Lake managed to slip by Rogers the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Sentinels lost 3-0 to the Rams on Tuesday. The Sentinels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
While Spanaway Lake had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.

| 10/08/25 @ Puyallup | 2 |
| 10/06/25 @ Yelm | 3 |
Despite the defeat, Spanaway Lake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Scarlett Wilson had five digs and two aces. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Sumner made easy work of Yelm on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win.
Sumner was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-15, 25-20.
Spanaway Lake better keep an eye on Kassidi Lelli. She was instrumental in Sumner's win, getting 19 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Lelli has posted since back in September.
Spanaway Lake's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Sumner, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Spanaway Lake hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.9 blocks per game. It's a different story for Sumner, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 blocks. Given Spanaway Lake's sizable advantage in that area, the Spartans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Spanaway Lake skirted past Sumner 3-2 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sentinels since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
