The Mark Twain Tigers were the 60-41 winner over the Marion County Mustangs when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Mark Twain fell 55-44 to Marion County on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Mark Twain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while Marion County is ranked 111th).
Despite the loss, Mark Twain still got an impressive performance from Sam Northcutt, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Northcutt scored a full 45.5% of Mark Twain's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydan Dye, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Mark Twain and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Marion County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Mark Twain will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Monroe City at 7:00 p.m. As for Marion County, they will head out on the road to face off against Green City at 7:30 p.m. on December 14th.
