The Clarksville Indians put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Iowa Valley 50-8 at home. Considering Clarksville has won nine matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Leading Clarksville to victory were Owen Backer and Makade Bloker. Backer rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Bloker rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Bloker hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for nine straight games.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Iowa Valley to a paltry 204 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Clarksville's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Rex Ross and Bodhi Ellerman who racked up four sacks between them.
Clarksville's win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Iowa Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Clarksville will square off against Gladbrook-Reinbeck at TBD on Friday. Gladbrook-Reinbeck knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Clarksville likes a good challenge. Iowa Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
