Camarillo had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They managed a 36-31 win over the Ventura Cougars on Thursday. This was payback for the Scorpions, who suffered a 28-18 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Camarillo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexandra Hughes, who picked up 67 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Another signal caller making a difference was Jaeah Blaney, who threw for 195 yards and one touchdown.
