Kenwood has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Hereford Bulls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kenwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten games.
Even though Kenwood has not done well against Woodlawn recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Kenwood took down Woodlawn 64-48.
Kenwood can attribute much of their success to Austin Mbuyi, who scored 19 points along with four steals and two blocks, and Neo Feehan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. Mbuyi hasn't dropped below 15points for ten straight games. Christian Bookman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 15 rebounds.
Hereford suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 68-31 loss at the hands of Franklin. Hereford has not had much luck with Franklin recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Kenwood's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Hereford, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Kenwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Hereford in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, sneaking past 29-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kenwood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
