The Astoria/VIT Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 50-32 fall against Macomb. While losing is never fun, Astoria/VIT can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while the Bombers are ranked 159th).
When it comes to explaining why Astoria/VIT lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ben Sherrod. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaden Foglesong, who scored ten points.
Astoria/VIT has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Macomb, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuba/Spoon River Valley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Macomb, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Rockets at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd. One thing working in Rock Falls' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
