The Everett Crimson Tide will head out on the road to take on the Medford Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Everett will be strutting in after a win while Medford will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Everett turned things around against Chelsea on Monday. They never let the Red Devils get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Crimson Tide not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 16-0).
Nick Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Young was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other pitching news, Caden Foley looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Everett got a massive performance out of Luke Wood, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Wood a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Guida, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Medford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Lynn Classical.
Like Everett, Medford also got a great game from a two-way player: Travers Moodie. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Moodie was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Medford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Everett, their record now sits at 4-13.
Everett suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Medford when the teams last played back in April. Can the Crimson Tide avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
