Kiel is 1-9 against Chilton since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Chilton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Kiel, who comes in off a win.
Kiel gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Marinette. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Kiel got a massive performance out of Eleanor Tillman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That hit was Tillman's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Rolkosky, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Kiel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Chilton fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Winnebago Lutheran Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.
Macey Schneider spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lauren Roehrig was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Mya Grenzer was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Kiel pushed their record up to 10-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chilton, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Kiel couldn't quite finish off Chilton in their previous matchup back in April and fell 9-7. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
