The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Shenandoah Valley has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while the Golden Bears will arrive with 21 straight wins.
Last Wednesday, Shenandoah Valley took a serious blow against the Vikings, falling 70-34.
Meanwhile, Mahanoy Area put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 72-49 margin over Williams Valley. Given Mahanoy Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Vikings are ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shenandoah Valley dropped their record down to 2-18 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mahanoy Area, their victory bumped their record up to 21-0.
Shenandoah Valley was taken down by the Golden Bears 68-36 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Shenandoah Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
