After a string of eight wins, the Crossroads Christian Colts's good fortune finally ran out  on Friday. They took a  66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cape Fear Christian Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Crossroads Christian came into the  matchup with a sizable advantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings  (they are ranked 98th, while Cape Fear Christian Academy is ranked 226th).
 Crossroads Christian lost  despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being   Ben Gladieux, who  dropped  a double-double on 15 points and 18  rebounds. Gladieux scored a full 26.3% of Crossroads Christian's points, the fourth time in a row he's  earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Chris Bell, who  scored 14 points along with five  steals.
 Crossroads Christian  struggled to work together and  finished the game with only four  assists. That's the fewest  assists they've managed all season.
 It was another big night for  Zeke Brock, who  scored 31 points along with four  steals for Cape Fear Christian Academy. The  match was  Brock's ninth in a row with at least ten points.  Jakson Cullen was another key contributor,  scoring 15 points.
 Crossroads Christian's defeat  ended  a  20-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 8-1. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
 Coincidentally,  both teams will both be playing Lee Christian the next time they take the court. Cape Fear Christian Academy will head out to face Lee Christian at 7:00  p.m.  on Monday, while Crossroads Christian will head out to face them  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
