The Liberty Creek Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the East Nashville Magnet Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Liberty Creek walked away with it. They put the hurt on Fairview with a sharp 49-27 victory on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Liberty Creek sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Meanwhile, East Nashville Magnet had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Everything went their way against Stratford as East Nashville Magnet made off with a 40-14 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-8.
East Nashville Magnet's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Martez Lamb, who rushed for 25 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 121 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. Kelan Anderson was in the mix as well, providing East Nashville Magnet with two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Stratford to a paltry 239 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to East Nashville Magnet's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Ladonnis Mcglothen jr. and Malik Bolling who racked up four sacks between them.
Liberty Creek is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for East Nashville Magnet, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Things could have been worse for Liberty Creek, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 27-13 loss to East Nashville Magnet in their previous meeting back in September. Can Liberty Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
