Great Crossing will face off against the Male Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Great Crossing's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Great Crossing gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Western Hills 86-38 at home. Given Great Crossing's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Western Hills is ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Great Crossing's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Junius Burrell, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 5 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burrell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vince Dawson, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Male's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They took a 79-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Xavier. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Great Crossing's win was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.35 points. As for Male, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.
