The Parkland Matadors's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They put the hurt on Horizon with a sharp 47-24 win. The victory was just what Parkland needed coming off of a 69-23 loss in their prior game.
Parkland found their leader in underclassman Rachael Silva, who scored 17 points along with seven steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Janeth Contreras, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Parkland's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-18. As for Horizon, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-19.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkland will take on Ysleta at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ysleta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Friday. As for Horizon, they will be playing at home against Del Valle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
