The George Wythe Maroons will challenge the Honaker Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
George Wythe will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Galax, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Maroons put the hurt on the Maroon Tide with a sharp 10-4 victory on Tuesday. The Maroons not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28, 2024 (when they won 16-6).

Carson Stanley was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Cade Bralley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Cayden Bement was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
George Wythe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Honaker got themselves on the board against Northwood on Thursday, but Northwood never followed suit. They blew past the Panthers 10-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
With the win, Honaker broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-3. As for George Wythe, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6-1.
