Lourdes Academy had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.1 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. They came out on top against North Miami by a score of 60-50. Given Lourdes Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while North Miami is ranked 331st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lourdes Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Sandoval, who scored 30 points along with nine steals. The matchup was Sandoval's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luciana Picasso, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Lourdes Academy pushed their record up to 13-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for North Miami, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lourdes Academy will take on Archbishop McCarthy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Miami, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Miami Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Miami Beach's defense has only allowed 26.1 points per game this season, so North Miami's offense will have their work cut out for North Miami.
