On Friday, the Legacy Longhorns faced the Palo Verde Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Legacy walked away with a 69-58 victory over Palo Verde. The victory was nothing new for Legacy as they're now sitting on five straight.
Legacy was led to victory by Rahjon Chambers and Aaron Duke. Chambers scored 24 points, while Duke scored 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Chambers has scored at least a third of Legacy's points. Maven-Bell Toleafoa was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Palo Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Legacy will challenge Shadow Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Shadow Ridge is ranked 27th, while Legacy is ranked 18th). As for Palo Verde, they will head out on the road to challenge Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Palo Verde likes a good challenge.
