While it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, the Bovina Mustangs were not quite the Muleshoe Mules's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Bovina fell 56-48 to Muleshoe. Bovina has struggled against Muleshoe recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miguel Lopez, who scored 14 points. Lopez scored a full 29.2% of Bovina's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Nieto, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Sebastian Kirven, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds for Muleshoe. The match was Kirven's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Adam Alarcon was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists.
Bovina bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Muleshoe, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bovina will be home for the holidays to greet Claude at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Muleshoe will be home for the holidays to greet Morton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
