The Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indian Creek Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Chapelgate Christian Academy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to the Crusaders. Chapelgate Christian Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Justin Bishop put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Julian Sabbat, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Indian Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight defeat. They lost to Loyola Blakefield on the road by a decisive 76-58 margin. While losing is never fun, Indian Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Dons are ranked 25th).
Despite their defeat, Indian Creek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kyle Harvin, who scored 20 points, was perhaps the best of all. Harvin continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sefton Robinson, who scored 15 points.
Chapelgate Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Indian Creek, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Chapelgate Christian Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.2 points per game. However, it's not like Indian Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 58.3 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Chapelgate Christian Academy came up short against the Eagles when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 79-70. Thankfully for Chapelgate Christian Academy, Kyndall Crawford (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
