The Apollo Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Buckeye 86-70. The victory was just what Apollo needed coming off of a 65-45 defeat in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Elijah White, who scored 21 points along with nine steals and seven assists. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of DeQuean Bryant, who scored 21 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Buckeye lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaiah Leyva. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Leyva hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Zachary Bennett, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Apollo's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Buckeye, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Apollo will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Willow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. Willow Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,421 points over their last 18 games. As for Buckeye, they will head out on the road to square off against Youngker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Youngker will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
