The Los Gatos Wildcats and the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Los Gatos Wildcats had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 45-42. Los Gatos' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Los Gatos' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aj Minyard, who threw for 356 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. That's the first time this season that Minyard passed for 300 or more yards. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Thomas, who gained 176 total yards and two touchdowns.
Bryson Donelson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 202 yards and three touchdowns, while also picking up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown for Central Valley Christian. Donelson's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brent Kroeze, who threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes.
Los Gatos' loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Central Valley Christian, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.
Los Gatos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Central Valley Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
