The United South Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the Harlingen Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with United South sitting on four straight victories and Harlingen on 15.
Even though Palmview scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, United South still came out on top. United South took their game against Palmview 75-62. Given United South's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Palmview is ranked 506th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Harlingen earned a 64-51 win over St. Joseph Academy on Friday.
United South has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Harlingen, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Everything went United South's way against Harlingen when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as United South made off with a 72-48 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Harlingen's Ryan Sanchez, who scored 18 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for United South to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
