Baseball Recap: Pickens Academy Has No Trouble Against Holy Spirit Catholic

Pickens Academy won the last time they faced Holy Spirit Catholic and things went their way on Thursday too. Pickens Academy put the hurt on Holy Spirit Catholic with a sharp 8-1 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Braden Banks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had over his last five contests.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaron Kirk, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since March 1st. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Gregory, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Pickens Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Holy Spirit Catholic and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
