Schuylkill Haven saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teagan Wehr, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Wehr has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played.
Meanwhile, Marian Catholic waltzed into their match on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Golden Bears with a sharp 14-6 win. Considering Marian Catholic has won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Emily Upanavage was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Upanavage was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Marian Catholic let Malina Letcher and Hailey Treskolasky run wild. Letcher went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Treskolasky went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Danica Karlick was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Marian Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Marian Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Schuylkill Haven, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Schuylkill Haven's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Hurricanes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Marian Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Schuylkill Haven continue to outrun the ball?
