The McKinley Red Dragons fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They snuck past Hubbard with a 54-49 victory on Friday. For McKinley, this counts as revenge for the 58-36 defeat Hubbard walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
McKinley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stef Dorsey, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Yaunsene Blackmon, who scored 17 points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Javon Greene, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Greene has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kenyen Franklin, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
McKinley's win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Hubbard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
McKinley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mineral Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th. Mineral Ridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hubbard, they will be playing at home against Struthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
