The Aquinas Blugolds waltzed into their game Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They came out on top against Westfield Area by a score of 53-45. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Aquinas also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2021.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aquinas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samantha Davis, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Davis' 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Murphy, who scored 13 points.
Aquinas' win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Westfield Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.
Aquinas won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Xavier at 12:30 p.m. on December 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wisconsin (Xavier is ranked 30th, while Aquinas is ranked 40th). As for Westfield Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Randolph is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
