The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Canyon del Oro in their matchups with Sunnyside: they've now lost four in a row.
Canyon del Oro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaiah Gill, who scored nine points along with five steals. Gill has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mykael Nunez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Sunnyside was led to victory by JOSE NIEBLAS and XAVIER LEYVA. NIEBLAS scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while LEYVA scored 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which LEYVA has scored at least 25% of Sunnyside's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Moreno Leyva , who scored four points along with 11 assists and eight rebounds.
Canyon del Oro's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Sunnyside, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
