Sammy Chappell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Chappell was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Elijah Smucker was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Logan King, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Pequea Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.
As for Lancaster Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
On Lancaster Catholic's side, Gabe Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that Garcia has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Zuber, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
