It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Jefferson Dragons had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-14 win over Jackson at home. The victory was just business as usual for Jefferson, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Jefferson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Markey led the charge by throwing for 206 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes. Sammy Brown was another key contributor, gaining 133 total yards and four touchdowns.
Jefferson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Jackson's QB won't forget Kelan Butler anytime soon given Butler sacked him twice.
Jefferson pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Jackson, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Jefferson will face off against Hiram at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Hiram is ranked 50th, while Jefferson is ranked 25th). Jackson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
