Baseball Recap: West Side Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

West Side entered their tilt with Calico Rock on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Pirates. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Grayson Inzer and Ty Hewitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Inzer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hewitt pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Inzer went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Hewitt got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Hewitt a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alex Gardner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooks Hipp, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

West Side always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calico Rock only posted an OBP of .286.

West Side's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Calico Rock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

West Side wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-6 victory against Guy-Perkins on the 21st. As for Calico Rock, they will take on Viola at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
