Mingo Central is 1-7 against WestSide since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mingo Central Miners will head out on the road to face off against the WestSide Renegades at 7:30 p.m. Mingo Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully WestSide likes a good challenge.
Mingo Central pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-56 to Logan.
Ethan Thomason put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Thomason is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Smith, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, WestSide humbled Liberty with a 84-33 victory. With WestSide ahead 40-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Austin Bishop was the offensive standout of the match as he went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alex Brunty, who scored six points.
Mingo Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for WestSide, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Mingo Central skirted past WestSide 55-52 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mingo Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
