The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Midview Middies at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Olmsted Falls barely beat Berea-Midpark the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 10-2 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Quade Hess tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cam Pesch was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 12 matchups. Another player making a difference was Ryan Kessen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Midview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Stow-Munroe Falls 4-3.
Luke Jockel was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Midview is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 5-9 otherwise. Jockel was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Jake Derringer was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Midview is undefeated when Derringer posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-9 otherwise. Benjamin Szczepanski was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Midview's record now sits at 8-9. As for Olmsted Falls, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Olmsted Falls has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Midview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Olmsted Falls came up short against Midview in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, falling 7-3. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
