Adding to the longest winning streak in Wyoming Valley 1 this week, Berwick beat James M. Coughlin 39-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Dallas scaled the state rankings by moving to 330 from 368 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mountaineers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Tunkhannock 35-0.
Zach Zukoski was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 163 yards on 27 carries as Hazleton topped Pittston. Teammate Nick George added to the ground attack by rushing for 34 yards.
The Spartans' Michael Baur and Sands have formed a dream team this season, leading Wyoming Valley 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Baur has thrown for 1,348 yards this season, while Sands has 39 catches for 685 yards. The Crusaders' Paul Cole leads the league in rushing yards with 1,223.
The Cougars' Zukoski is a mere 52 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Zukoski has rushed for 948 yards on 172 carries so far this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Hazleton takes on George Curry's team. Jim Drumheller's team is currently in sixth, while the Bulldogs are in first.
Wyoming Valley West took down the Patriots 54-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Baur threw for 159 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 85 yards during the win.
